With changing aesthetic perceptions and the emergence of new developments in surgery, forehead reduction surgery remains a current operation.
Especially with aging, wrinkles and sagging increase in the forehead area. The hairline typically starts about 5-8 cm above the eyebrow line. For individuals with a longer distance, this can lead to aesthetic concerns. While a wide and bright forehead usually fits the modern aesthetic perception; a forehead that is wide enough to disrupt the facial proportions can create aesthetic concerns, especially from the front view.
Patients who are bothered by signs of aging, those with naturally wide foreheads or acquired reasons, and patients who believe their hairline starts further back than it should, turn to this method.
The forehead reduction procedure is often preferred by our female patients, but it is also applied to suitable male patients. Forehead reduction is usually an operation performed under general anesthesia, with the surgery lasting about 90 minutes. Depending on the patient's preference, it can also be performed under local anesthesia and can easily be combined with other surgeries. A cut will be made in your pre-determined hair-bearing skin, and the specified excess skin and subcutaneous tissue will be removed. Then, the two ends are sutured together appropriately. The scar usually remains within the hair-bearing scalp.
After the operation, you will be advised to avoid activities that could cause your stitches to stretch, and it is recommended to avoid washing your hair for a short period.
Patients are expected to return to daily life approximately 14 days after the surgery.
The scar resulting from the surgery remains hidden by the hair due to its location in the hair-bearing scalp.
If you are concerned about the width of your forehead, it is recommended that you consult with your plastic surgeon.
